Milan Newar is a renowned Indian-born Nepalese playback singer and songwriter who has become a household name in the Nepali music industry over the last two decades. Born on January 25, 1986, in Assam, India, she was raised in a Nepali household and began her musical training at the age of four. Before finding massive success in Kathmandu, she was already a well-known singer in Assam, performing in multiple languages including Assamese, Bodo, and Hindi. Her career reached a major milestone in 2016 when she participated in the environmental song "Melancholy," featuring 365 singers, which set a Guinness World Record for the most vocal solos in a single song recording.
Beyond her recording career, Newar is widely recognized as a prominent figure on television, serving as a coach on major reality shows like The Voice of Nepal and The Voice Kids Nepal. She notably led her contestant to victory as the winning coach in Season 5 of The Voice of Nepal.
