Dhruba KC was an influential modern Nepali vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and pioneer in Nepal's broadcasting history during the golden era of the country's music industry. Raised in a musical household where he mastered the harmonium and tabla as a child, he began singing for Radio Nepal’s children's programs at a very young age. His exceptional vocal talents quickly caught the attention of the public and the royal palace, culminating in a gold medal presented directly by King Mahendra after he secured the top spot in a national modern singing competition.
Beyond his musical performances, he was a trailblazer in early Nepali media, successfully transitioning into a prominent radio disc jockey (RJ) and voiceover artist. He holds a distinct historical milestone as the first person to create and introduce musical advertising jingles to Nepal's radio airwaves. Though he chose to transition his career to Mumbai in 1973 and left behind a relatively concise catalog of recorded work, tracks like Mayalu Hajar Hunchhan and Maruni Kanchhi remain celebrated as evergreen classics that profoundly shaped Nepali modern music.
