Timi Tare Bhir
by Pabitra Subba
"Timi Tare Bhir" (तिमी तारे भीर) is the definitive masterpiece of Pabitra Subba's music career, originally released in 1993 (2050 BS) as part of her album Sailee. Penned by the famous lyricist Shrawan Mukarung and composed by Shanti Ram Rai, the track quickly became an iconic milestone in Nepali pop-adhunik music. The song's massive audio success eventually led to an official music video release in 2004, shot in the scenic Chobhar area of Kathmandu, which brought Subba's expressive performance directly to television audiences and cemented the track's legacy for future generations.
Poetically, the song uses vivid, nature-based metaphors to illustrate a deep and unconditional romantic dependence. The opening refrain compares the lover to a steep, towering cliff (Tare Bhir) and the singer to a delicate vine (Lahara) that can only climb, thrive, and find support by clinging to that cliff. Lines like "Timi bahek mero arko sansar chaina" (I have no world outside of you) emphasize absolute devotion, transforming fearsome natural elements like cliffs and waterfalls into symbols of comfort and sanctuary.
