Ekkasi

"Ekkasi" (translating to "Suddenly") is a popular contemporary Nepali indie-pop and R&B track by singer-songwriter Yabesh Thapa, featuring artist pozod. Initially teased as a standalone single in December 2024, the song was later officially compiled into Thapa's highly anticipated studio album, GhaamChhaya, released on January 30, 2026, under the label ClassX Presentation. The track breaks away from typical acoustic ballads by blending Thapa's signature soulful vocal delivery with a faster, rhythmically dynamic Drum and Bass (DnB) backing beat, creating a unique acoustic-electronic fusion that quickly captured the attention of younger listeners on streaming platforms and social media.
Lyrically, "Ekkasi" explores a poignant, heartbreaking narrative centered around unexpected distance, longing, and the painful reality of a sudden separation. The verses chronicle the journey of someone who has crossed oceans—metaphorically or literally—to be near their lover ("Saat samundra tari aaye timrai chheuma"), only to be met with a cold, unrecognizable emotional distance. The emotional peak of the track rests in its vulnerable chorus, where the narrator pleads with their partner not to shatter their heart in an instant or leave them stranded in a crowd. The title hits home in the recurring line, "Chhaadi timi gaye, ekkaasi," capturing the devastating shock and recurring ache of a partner abruptly walking away.
