The song mirrors the central theme of the movie, focusing on the bittersweet consequences of development, rural migration, and urban displacement. The phrase "Rai Mailale Gau Chhodyo Re" translates to "It is said that Rai Maila has left the village," serving as a poignant lament from the perspective of the villagers left behind. The verse lines ask which vehicle he boarded or which mountain turn he just crossed, begging the elements to stop him and make him return. Through sorrowful metaphors regarding who will till the fields or join the funeral processions when people leave, the song paints a devastating yet beautiful picture of how the introduction of modern roads alters indigenous livelihoods. It emphasizes that when a villager departs, they do not just travel alone—they carry the collective songs and soul of the village with them.
