"Gahiro" is a classic alternative rock song by the pioneering Nepali rock band Monkey Temple, originally written and composed by the band's frontman, Sareen Deoja. First gaining massive traction upon its initial release in 2014 under their album Single, the song has accumulated over 5 million views on YouTube and stands as one of the band's most widely recognized anthems. Musically, the track features an intricate balance of driving drums and emotive vocals, but it is most famously celebrated for its legendary guitar solos—originally composed and performed by Deepak Moktan alongside Srijan Bikram Gewali.
Lyrically, "Gahiro" uses profound natural imagery to express a deep, unshakable declaration of love and protection. The lyrics compare the narrator's love to the depth of a blue ocean and the immovable permanence of the vast Himalayas ("Gahiro nilo tyo sagar jhai, bishal atal tyo himal jhai, mero maya timilai nai"), pleading with the partner to hold onto and cherish these feelings securely. Over the years, the song has proved its timelessness through various live performances and re-recordings, including a "Lockdown Version" self-recorded by the members in 2020, and a highly praised acoustic rendition in June 2025 for the Feel Good Frequencies Unplugged Sessions, which brought back original guitarist Deepak Moktan after nearly 12 years to recreate his signature solo on acoustic strings.
