Pariwartan Band is a prominent alternative rock group from Kathmandu, Nepal, that originally formed in 2008. For over a decade, they established themselves as an absolute staple of the capital’s live nightlife scene, performing relentless schedules of up to six nights a week across popular pubs and bars in Thamel. While they initially built their reputation as a highly sought-after cover band playing everything from classic rock to modern pop, the group experienced a creative rebirth during the global pandemic. Under the steady leadership of founder and bassist Deepak "Solti" Gurung, the band solidified its definitive lineup alongside frontman Gopi Shrestha, guitarist Pravesh Thapa Magar, and drummer Yugal Shahi to shift their focus toward producing original music.
The band made a major breakthrough in July 2020 with the release of their very first original single, "Ma Chu", effectively transitioning from live performers to recognized recording artists. This newfound creative direction culminated in their critically acclaimed debut studio album, Timi Ra Ma, which officially launched in mid-2023 at the Supper Club in Thamel. Blending traditional Nepali roots with smooth, emotionally charged modern rock, the album's title track "Timi Ra Ma" quickly turned into a massive streaming success on platforms like Spotify. Known for infusing meaningful social consciousness and deep emotional themes into their discography, Pariwartan continues to expand its sound through projects like The Acoustic Chapter and recent standalone singles such as "Sadaiba" and "Mann Ta Marisakyo".
